Back to school with no photos

My laptop ground to a halt last week. I am not a techie, so I handed it over to my husband, and he fears the worst. It is now in the hands of someone who will hopefully be able to perform a miracle on it. In the meantime, I have no photos, because they are all on my laptop!!! Along with everything else in my life. I'm trying not to think about what all may be lost.

The children went back to school yesterday. Summer to school is always a difficult transition. The incredulity that they have to be somewhere every day, the realization that homework is back in the mix, the too-quiet house for me. I think I suffer more than they do, for every September I see them moving farther and farther away from me. I am on a mission, though, to take my mind off all of that. I am in the mood to clean out closets and tame piles and purge and reorganize until we don't recognize this place any more. I spent four hours on one room yesterday. At that rate it will take a month to do the whole house, but that's okay. This is what I feel the need to do now. I have some good books on CD checked out of the library, so I will listen to stories while I bring some order to this home of ours. That is my back-to-school project! And honestly, having the distraction of my laptop out of my life is only helping this endeavor. So wish me luck!

Yikes! Note to self. Back up all photos onto external hard drive that we purchased in June and have never plugged in!

We have been cleaning and purging too. Tis the season.
