Winter storm

It began as rain, then turned to ice.  The ice collected on the bottoms of the windows:
 
The ice turned to wet, heavy snow:

The next morning, we awoke to a world that was transformed!

Goodness, that looks very chilly. Here (Edinburgh) the sun is shining and I did a bit of gardening the other day.

Winter lasts a long time here in Michigan. We usually have a day or two in March when it gets warm and I go outside and trim back shrubs before they start growing for the season, but we can't do real gardening here until May.

Wasn't that just the craziest??? I was supposed to have a delivery of new washer and dryer yesterday. The truck got stuck at the end of our drive and blocked the entire road! I have to reschedule after the snow is gone.

The best thing about losing your phone line at 3:15 AM is that you don't get the 5:45 AM phone call telling you school is closed :^) - got to sleep in until 6:26 when I listened to the battery powered radio while looking for a school cancellation hotline phone number by flashlight, since we also didn't have power...
